Past Projects
Take Your Time
Premiere: December 2022 in Detroit, MI
Carved by light, this work (co-choreographed by Eric Blovits) expresses a relationship over time and space in a way that is non-linear and non-narrative. This duet work was selected to premiere at the Wayne State University December Dance Concert.
Heisenberg
Premiere: July 2021 in Lucca, Italy
Heisenberg investigates how our environment can shape our choices and who we are. This work was created over a week-long residency in Lucca, Italy during the Dance Italia Advanced training program in 2021. During this time, mentorship from Ricera X and Stephanie Nelson assisted in the creation of this site-specific choreographic venture. The piece premiered on a walking tour of the city in July.
Eye of the Storm
Premiere: December 2021 in Detroit, MI
Set on the dancers of WSU’s Dance Company One, Eye of the Storm is an experiment in organized chaos. Performers swirl and wash the space as they encounter each other, and the trials they have gone through together.
How to Move
Premiere: March 2020 - Virtual
Guiding questions of “Who am I?” and “Who do I want to be?” offer ways of exploring the depths of what makes up a person. Through self-actualization, a greater sense of who one is will determine the theories and practices through which one ought to live their life. Moral and philosophical tools are pertinent in the ever-illusive journey to enlightenment.
Reflections
Premiere: December 2020 - Virtual
The most introspective research, that of the Self, is thought of intimately in Reflections. Through an improvised structure at the Minoru Yamasaki Reflecting Pools in Detroit, and inspired by the poem Mirrors, by Sylvia Plath, Reflections takes into consideration what to do when you don't like the person that looks back at you.
Reflections was chosen to represent Wayne State University at the virtual adjudicated concert for the American Collegiate Dance Association in 2021.
